Much preparation for Halloween last week. We finished our halloween decorations and had a great time at our fun Halloween parties! I hope you enjoyed our small Halloween show. Everyone looked great and did a wonderful job with our “runway.” We also had show and tell which the children love. Pete brought in a great picture book that his grandma made of their trip to the zoo. He loved showing it off.
Our 3 day group decorated our pumpkins with blackboard paint and chalk, they look awesome and it was a fun and messy project. With our day group we put together color paper witches, glueing their hats, shoes and broom.
With both groups and in accordance with our festivities we read “Halloween Night” by Marjorie Dennis Murray and Hunter celebrates Halloween. During our little ones small group time we matched simple shapes like square, triangle, rectangle and circles, everyone did great at matching and naming most shapes. We also read “Here are my hands” by Bill Martin and John Archambault we played while reading and danced on the carpet.
Our pre-K group is working on their self-portraits, letter and sound of the week. We have also been sorting tiny objects by first letter. Some of our children are working on sight words and CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) words like cat, mat and hat.
Conferences are coming up in a couple of weeks and we are so excited to share everything your children have been doing.
