Happy New Year! Now that we are back from a much needed break and seemingly all healthy, we are ready to learn new things! It was great to see all of our children excited to be back in school after such a long break. They all look very happy and grown up! It’s great to have them back.
Last week we eased back into our routine with familiar songs and stories. It was great to see them still remember all of them. We also incorporated new moves to our circle time to make it more fun and interactive for our children.
One of our new tunes is about asking them what colors they are wearing for the day. The lyrics go like this:
“What are you wearing, what are you wearing today today.
If you are wearing pink stand up! ”
Last week we also introduced our first “letter of the week”. We started with A and we practiced coloring it, tracing it with our fingers and glueing paper apples. Next week we will continue with letter C.
As most of you have probably noticed we now have a fish tank in our school. We received our salmon eggs and put them in our tank. We will watch them grow until its time to release them. We are planning a series of activities around this and teaching our children about the lives of salmons. They are very excited with our tank and can’t wait to see them grow, as they say: “just like Nemo!!”
Our pre-K’s are jumping in with full force. We are talking about our letter of the week, the sound it makes and what words begin with those sounds. We are also practicing our sight words regularly and posting them on the wall. We will be doing 5 words per week. Some of our children are getting ready for Kindergarten in the fall so we are making sure their skills are up to par. Looking forward to the next half of the year.
