We are continuing with our Fall/Thanksgiving decorations and crafts. We started the first stage of our wall mural, this time it’s going to be our “Thanksgiving fall tree”. For this first step we worked in the tree trunk, branches and leaves. We used colored paper for the leaves and different shades of brown strips for the trunk and branches. Our children were super excited to use glue all by themselves and make big globs! it got a little messy but lots of fun.
They also had a great time running towards the wall and finding the perfect spot where to glue them on the tree!
For small group time with the little ones we sang the “wheels of the bus go round” and use materials for them to interact and recognize through the song. On Friday we had some dance time, it’s great to see how its becoming a lot easier for them to follow direction while having fun! Our pre-K’s are continuing to learn their phonics chart, letter sounds and sight words. With a great range of ability for math concepts, we are exploring 1:1 correspondence, number relationships and numbers to 30. We are looking forward to increasing writing exposure and geography in the next few weeks.
Our daily routine is getting easier everyday. Our children enjoy our welcome song, books away tune and days of the week. They are getting better at singing them and recognizing what is their next activity.
They love finding their name tags on the wall and placed them in the board every morning, we think it gives them a sense on belonging and recognition to their peers. They acknowledge immediately when someone is missing for the day or not being part of the activity. It’s great to see how much they enjoy each others company and have fun interacting with someone different every day. For the most part they get along really well and play with each other very good.
Iliana’s mom joined us this Friday for story time and again it was a pleasure to have one of our parents be part of our daily routines. Our children are getting more used to this fun visits and are more engaged with our stories. Circle time is a great way for them to start at the Cove!
