This week we started our Fall and Thanksgiving projects and crafts! We made some adorable hand prints and hand shaped tracings. We are starting a new project for our wall and like always we’ll have different steps till it’s completion. You can see the progress each week when you stop by our classroom. Our children really enjoy noticing the changes and the weekly additions to our collage.
For our work time we did a lot of water-coloring this week. I gave our children the choice between crayons, markers, colored pencils and watercolors and of course by popular demand we water-colored most of the week. The messier the better! We also painted with pine-cones and dry leaves and used words like rough, smooth, hard, soft and prickly.
For circle time, we read a couple of Fall themed books and sang “Hokey Pokey” and our daily “days of the week” song. We are all getting better and better with our daily routine, its great to see them participating more each day.
This week we had a couple of special visits for story time. On Thursday Maggie’s dad told us a wonderful story about a Gecko and on Friday Emma’s grandma stop by to read us a book also. The children really enjoyed these visits, it’s a great opportunity for parents/families to participate in our class activities so please keep signing up!
Our pre-K kiddos are working on perfecting their alphabet sounds. We are learning some new songs to help us learn all of different sounds we need to read. We are also playing some sorting games with objects and their beginning sounds. Our number sense skills are coming along as well. We will be starting patterns next week.
