This week we continued with our fun Halloween activities and classroom decorations, it’s looking great and we are really excited for our Halloween parties coming up for both groups!
First we finished our spider walls with the TUE/THR group, they also made fun white ghosts. We used Halloween themed stamps to decorate them and added goggly eyes, they look great! With both groups of our little ones we did a fun mirror exercise where they used the mirrors to look at their faces. We talked about the color of their eyes and hair and made funny sad, grumpy and smiley faces. We also analyzed the holes in our noses and look at our eyes and mouths closely. It was such a successful activity we will repeat it next week. The older children will be doing it as well as part of their self-portrait activity. The whole group did a fun fall activity with gourds, dry leaves and magnifying glasses. We looked at these objects closely and we talked about their color, texture and smell. It was great to see them react differently to each object, some more interested in one thing than the other. Our older kids had very insightful comments and raised the bar for the little ones who followed their lead.
For our large group time we played with ribbon sticks and danced around. I have to say we had a blast! Everyone loved playing with them and coming up with different movements to make different shapes. We danced to the left, right, up, down and twirled all around the room. Finally we ended our week with a fun pumpkin patch visit. It was great to see so many of the children’s parents participating. It was a wonderful experience and for our first school outing. It was a big success, can’t wait for the next one!
