This week we continued helping our children adapt to our school space and routine. Overall it has been a easier for the 3 day group but it will only be a matter of time for the 2 day group to feel a hundred percent adjusted. There have been great improvements already and Thursday was a great day for them. Let’s hope next week we have our first no tears week.
It has been really exciting to see our children become friends and relate to each other better every day. Andrew and Emma became friends right away and their friendship is growing every day, specially when its running time! They all recognize each other now and they get excited with arrival time and our welcome song. Here are the lyrics and you can ask for your kids help for the tunes.
Tune: Happy Birthday
“We welcome you here
we welcome you here
we welcome everybody
we welcome you here”
“Hello _______
Hello ________
Hello ________
so glad to see you here”
This week we did brush painting, paper gluing and chalk drawing. We had a few paint spots, please let me know if you prefer your children using a plastic apron to protect their clothes. We started with our wall jungle project, you’ll learn more about it on Thursday but this is project will keep adding to for a few more weeks. Other week activities were playing with stones, transferring between containers ( a huge hit for the whole group). We also danced with scarves at large group which the children loved. During our scarf dancing we practiced directions (up, down, left, right, etc.) We keep singing our familiar songs twinkle twinkle little star and Itzy Bitzy spider but incorporated the elephant version (really slow) mouse version (high pitched) and the fast version. Please do try the new versions at home.

All of our children did so much better this week. Hunter, Chris and Iliana are learning to interact with the older kids and having fun in class. Elsa, Ruby and Maggie are learning their roles as the older kids of the class and understanding how to handle situations with the smaller children better. They are all slowly learning to share and our “it’s everybody'”s policy. They are also getting talented at both making and cleaning up the classroom messes, it’s great!
Our wall of fame is complete.
Our pre-K group continues to work on number sense. This week we introduced story problems using bears and blocks. They created stories with bears riding a boat – counting them, adding bears and subtracting bears. We also worked on pulling objects away as we count so they are not counted twice.

They are also working on dressing frames to help with their fine motor skills and their self-help skills.
