A wonderful week back from Spring Break. Monday was a very active day – it took me almost 2 hours to figure out why the children were a little off. Then it was clear as day – Easter candy! The night before I even thought about how the kids may be hyper due to the candy supply available to them that day, but somehow this thought escaped me in the morning. None the less the day was full of exploration and excitement. To toddlers and preschoolers, a week away may as well be a lifetime. The classroom was new and exciting again as they are reunited with the materials they missed for a week as well as some new materials that were put out for their exploration.
We explored the shape of letters with playdough. Trains and tracks were an added addition to the classroom. Unit blocks are always a big hit. Some of the kids started pointing out and making letters with the blocks.
We read The Tiny Woman’s Coat donated by one of our wonderful families this week.
We experimented with watercolors on our new watercolor paper:
We had a visitor join us during storytime today – a spider that one of the children noticed. We stopped our story to talk about the spider. Questions we go: Where is it going? Where did it come from? We also talked about it’s size, how many legs it had and its color.
We ended our day and our week with a dance party – shakers and one of their favorite dance songs – African Playground’s Battu.
