I came across this color wheel of cultures and it reminded me how important it is to look at perspectives especially in the classroom. Children come in all shapes and sizes and from a variety of backgrounds. Their perspective is shaped by who they live with, where they live and what kind of experiences they had before they get to you. Even on a daily basis…how their morning begins will determine how their day will go. A shift in perspective can happen at any time especially in the mind of a child. Thinking about a child’s perspective can change the way we handle a situation or teach a skill. Just as important as it is to keep childrens’ perspectives in mind, so too must we begin teaching them to be aware of the perspective of others.
How does looking at the perspective of others affect your day?
