A new school year is upon us and we are so excited to have our new families joining The Cove. A bit of an adjustment for some of our children, but overall a great start to a new year. We are looking forward to providing weekly recaps which will also serve as our newsletter so be sure to sign up for our blog in your reader and check back often for new and exciting information.
Over the next few weeks, we will also post some recaps from our summer camps. But here is a little from our first days of school. This week was mostly about getting to know our new students and helping them get use to our space. It was great to see them slowly
getting to know each other and learning how to play with our classroom toys and books. For the most part we concentrated on keeping them engage and for that we did fun activities like modeling play-dough, finger painting and playing with water. They had a really good time with the water and where pretty good at keeping it in the tub, Ella made sure to reinforced the rules and repeated constantly: “Keep the water in the tub” Elsa and Ruby were great at being the classroom leaders and showing the rest of the children some of the daily aspects of our routine. As always play-dough was the big success of the week. Gabriel showed his great imagination and came up with play-dough pancakes and syrup,
yum! Layla and Andrew were amazing at putting toys away and Maggie was a great leader. Overall it was a great first week for everyone, we have a great group and I think it’s going to be a great year!
Our book of the week was “Polar Bear, Polar Bear what do you hear” by Eric Carle.
