This week went fast with Memorial Day on Monday. We have been experimenting with blue and yellow the past few weeks. We continued experimenting with different materials and mediums using blue and yellow. The children used droppers to add blue and yellow to their coffee filters and then we wanted to see what happen on construction paper. They loved using the droppers and it was great practice to improve and strengthen their fine motor skills. This is essential to prepare them for writing.
We also had a preschool barbeque which was so much fun. The weather held out for us for the most part as well. It is nice to get the families together so they can get to know each other. Most of the time they just see each other in passing at pick up and drop off, if at all.
The children dove into the sensory table filled with sand, jewels and dinosaurs. Our last hurrah before we switch out for June. Water will fill it next which will be great for pouring, measuring, sink and float experiments and our Waterworks summer camp.
We also explored tangrams which is a dissection puzzle that consists of shapes in order to form other shapes. The children formed trains, flowers, houses and much more. I didn’t have my camera, but we will be doing it again next week so I will take photos then.
