What a fun filled week. Letter O and we had fun gluing “oranges”. With our older kids we had them cut the circles themselves and draw their letters. They came up with creative and fun ideas for this activity. It was great to see their different results. Elsa made perfect small circles and Erik used the paper to make an elephant head while using the O’s as the eyes! It was great.
Ms Renee provided new instruments for the class. We introduced them to the class this week. We are excited to steer away from the plastic toy instruments and use authentic instruments as well as integrate music and instruments into our curriculum. We had a bell, a tambourine, a drum, a wood block and mallet and a scraper frog. We talked about the different sounds and materials. We took turns to learn how to use each instrument and then played together, we are a wonderful ensemble! 🙂 This is a great introduction to musical instruments and will go nicely with our new music teacher, Ms. Kathleen. She gave us a sample lesson this week and we are so excited for her to visit every Tuesday.
Another of our small group activities was playing with our ceramic tea set. Our children were great at sharing honey, sugar and setting the table. They helped each other to pour “hot water” and getting their tea ready, it was lots of fun.
The children also experimented with parchment paper and used them on their feet to slide around the room. They had a blast doing this.
Our pre-K group explored a new magnet set, unifix cubes and lacing cards. They love using some of our open ended materials and we love seeing all the creative ideas they have.
