Getting back into the swing of things after our snow/Thanksgiving break. Even though we missed out on our Thanksgiving celebration, the class exchanged their cards which they were going to give to their parents. It included a picture of their new friends that they are thankful for. It was really sweet to see how excited they were to see pictures of themselves with their new friends.
We are exploring shapes and mixing primary colors to make secondary ones. We used a group coloring activity and our children had a great time finding the right shape and color. We colored green squares, red triangles, blue rectangles, yellow circles, orange hearts and purple stars.
The children really seem to enjoy our exploration of science and color mixing. We used different sized glass jars, cups, water and food coloring. We mixed blue, red and yellow to create green, purple and orange. We managed to stay pretty dry for the most part!
We also had a couple of parent visits for book reading and as always it was a very enjoyable time for our little ones. Ruby’s mom read us a story about going to school and Emma’s dad brought us “The Story of Ferdinand” by Munro Leaf and “Happy Hanukkah” which we’ll be reading a few more times so our children can learn a little more about this celebration.
Our preK children worked on their self-portraits and are exploring unifix cubes. We are looking forward to honing our math skills around patterns, graphing, counting and comparing.
Next week we start practicing for our holiday parties, hope everyone can make it!
